Tatem Read Art Advisory is a full-service art advisory and collection management firm. Tatem partners with clients, both new to collecting and experienced, to provide the access and the expertise necessary to procure modern and contemporary art and to demystify the art collecting experience. Tatem’s fiduciary and ethical responsibility is first and foremost to her private clients. Her ability to address her client's individual needs enables her to create and maintain long lasting, productive relationships with clients and arts professionals. Tatem provides an immersion into the international, post-war and contemporary art world through ongoing dialogue, gallery and museum tours, studio visits, and research.
About Tatem
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Tatem earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia, and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2005. She previously worked for Jonathan Binstock (Director of the Phillips Collection) at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and assisted in the organization of a retrospective of Sam Gilliam’s work. She then worked for Page Bond Gallery in Richmond, before moving to San Francisco to work for John Berggruen Gallery. During her 17 years at Berggruen, Tatem managed all operations of the gallery. With an emphasis on both primary and secondary market sales, she oversaw gallery operations, the exhibition program, client service, and art fairs. Tatem has served on the boards of Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and Marin Horizon School. She lives in Mill Valley, California with her husband and two children.
